The Webinar is for individuals, partners and community organisations interested in adopting or learning more about the effectiveness of a community-based approach to increase awareness about the trauma of childhood sexual abuse, and the value of counselling in Black, Asian and Minorities Ethnic Communities.

What to expect

Becky Nixon, Director at Ideas to Impacts will present the main findings from the evaluation answering the following questions

  1. Has the Breaking the Silence Initiative facilitated an effective community-based approach and awareness-raising strategy for South Asian women in Leicester?
  2. What hinders and supports the delivery and replicability of the community-based approach for this client group?
  3. What plans does Quetzal have to ensure continuous improvement in maintaining relationships with the South Asian communities and in reaching new communities?
  4. To what extent has Quetzal strengthened its MEL systems and effectively integrated the learning into the organisation’s practice?

Quetzal will share their next steps in relation to the project and present their latest short-movie production.

About the Breaking the Silence Initiative

The three-year initiative 2019-2022 aims to measure the effectiveness of a community-based approach to raise awareness in South Asian Communities living in Leicester about the trauma of childhood sexual abuse and the value of counselling.

The project is funded through the Tampon Tax Fund and through the co-partnership between Comic Relief and the Department of Media, Culture and Sport (DMCS).

About Ideas to Impact

Ideas to Impact is a consultancy working with the VCS and other sectors to help people to develop and grow.

Main areas of work are research, impact assessment and evaluation, partnership working and service design, and quality standards and assessment. We use leadership and management, organisational development, psychology and neuroscience research to inform practice. Areas of expertise include trauma, mental and emotional health, loneliness and isolation, domestic and sexual violence, carers, older people, befriending, volunteering and VCS infrastructure.

Becky Nixon is Director of Ideas to Impact and has over 30 years’ experience in the VCS and public services, working at national, regional and local levels. She has an MSc in management and business research and is currently undertaking an MSc in psychology.
