All to raise awareness about the fight against sexual violence and fundraise for two incredible charities.
Quetzal and Living without Abuse are partnering up for Denim’s Day to raise awareness for Sexual Violence in Loughborough!
What is Denim Day?
The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the judge felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she ‘must have’ helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, which means it was consensual. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. From then on every 27th April, we come together to help fight Sexual Violence!
What’s happening this Denim’s Day in Loughborough?
We’re asking you to put on your denim and join our march in Loughborough on the 27th April to show your support for those who have suffered Sexual Violence and help us raise awareness!
At 5pm-6.30pm we’ll have denim customisation and placard making, followed by a short talk from both charities. Then we’ll hit the streets of Loughborough for the march! To end we’ll have a minute silence to remember all of those who have been affected by sexual violence.
Come and show your support for the cause and help highlight the serious and prevalent crime that is sexual violence.
It’s free to come along, but if you’ll take part we’ve put an option for a donation which will be split between Quetzal and Living Without Abuse – helping support their work in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The initiative is part of Quetzal Charnwood Outreach programme
