Based in Oakham for face-to-face appointments, I offer a warm and compassionate approach to counselling, working collaboratively with you to create a space where you feel able to explore whatever may be on your mind. Reaching out for support is not always easy, and I aim to help you feel heard, understood, and supported as we work towards the changes that matter to you.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, addictive behaviours, trauma, and the lasting impact of difficult life experiences. My approach is tailored to each individual, drawing on person-centred counselling, psychodynamic understanding, mindfulness-informed approaches, and motivational interviewing.
I have a particular interest in how past experiences can shape present-day emotions, relationships, and ways of coping. Together, we can explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, helping you develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of choice in your life.
For those who prefer digital appointments, I offer online and telephone appointments nationally and internationally

About Person-Centred Counselling.
This means I work with you at your pace; on topics you have chosen. When you tell me something which has happened in your life or about feelings and thoughts you have, as a person-centred counsellor, I will offer empathic and non-judgemental responses. I may ask questions to clarify my understanding, I may challenge you by observing something you were unaware of, but I will never offer advice, as I believe you already have the answers, you just need to unlock them, which is what my counselling can offer you.
Being trauma informed means, I recognise signs of trauma and work with what has happened, going at a pace which is comfortable for you. It also means being transparent and collaborative.
How I can help you.
My experience has been working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I have also had experience of working with anxiety, depression, chronic illness, PTSD, pre-trial clients, ADHD, estrangement, grief, and relationships.
I can work with you to understand your patterns and where they come from. I can offer coping methods to regulate difficult emotions; help you feel less overwhelmed and stuck. I can help you define boundaries in your life. My goal is always to empower you and help you gain greater understanding of yourself, the outcome often generating greater self-confidence and belief.
How and where I can work with you.
I work online via Zoom and I offer telephone counselling. I do an initial telephone/Zoom consultation which is free of charge and up to 20 minutes so we can talk and find out if we can work together, with no obligation.
I then do assessment and agreement sessions separately, before starting counselling with you. This enables me to get the details I need so we can safely work together, and it is not too overwhelming for you.
I offer open ended therapy which means you decide how many sessions you do. This can be weekly or fortnightly. I can offer a fixed session time each week or work flexibly around shift work, children etc, where available.
I only work with adults over 25.
Initial 20-minute phone/Zoom consultation is free. Please contact me by email: isobelbealcounselling@outlook.com Or call 07380 723072[/ultimate_modal]
