About the Event
The event is a ”Community Festival” promoting Cultural diversity organised by Shantidham. celebrating, sharing, and made to enjoy a fun day with community regardless of faith or nationality or colour.
The event will raise awareness and help celebrate the cultural diversity of various communities through a Community Festival. The event will help to celebrate and connect the many different communities within Leicester, giving each space to demonstrate and showcase their work to the people of Leicester. The event will also enable the wider communities to have a greater understanding of the different communities within their locality, learning about their culture, including dance, foods, music and history, whilst also finding out about activities they could become part of in the future. The event will run a programme of multi-cultural demonstrations from different community groups, for dance and music which will include Sikh Dancers, Bollywood Dancers, Gujarati Garbas,Bhangra Dancers, Morris Dancers, West Indian Steel Band, plus other European Countries Dancers. There will also be a range of stalls preparing, cooking and selling cultural foods from diverse communities within Leicester. There will be arts and crafts stalls including henna artists, face painting, fun stalls. To attract as wide as possible number from the all different communities we will have a Party, Health and Activity area. The social benefit of the event will foster community pride, teach people new things, strengthen relationships, and build community. The event is designed to bring people together from all different walks of life through the different mediums of music, dance, drama and speakers. The focus is about bringing people together and embracing the diversity within Leicester we will have a stage with live music welcoming the 75th India Independance day.
