About Quetzal and their 33rd birthday
Quetzal is a Leicester-based charity who mission is to provide free and inclusive counselling and support services to empower female survivors’ recovery from the trauma of childhood sexual abuse. They support women aged 16 and above living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Quetzal was the brainchild of Jennifer Anthony Black, beginning in 1989 as a self-help group and then developing into a more formal range of professional support services. Sadly, Jennifer passed away in March 2009, but her vision remains.
In 2019,Quetzal embraced a community-based approach to raise awareness further about the trauma of childhood sexual abuse across communities. As their work progress, they started meeting artists, painters, writers, dancers and singers in the community wanting to support their cause.
For their 33rd birthday, Quetzal with Deviki Patel want to discuss further with their guests how they can support female survivors in their recovery and artistic journey.
About Deviki Patel
Deviki is a self-published author based in Leicester, she has written three books: Bloom, Strength in Vulnerability and A Perfect Puzzle. They are all available to purchase on Waterstones and Amazon.
Her books contain heartfelt but deep poetry for the soul. Deviki used writing to express pain, trauma, and growth. For the past 2 years, the practice of writing has been in her words ”a very powerful self-help tool”. Now, Deviki is in a position where she can share her experiences with a wider audience as a guide to help others.
In addition to having my books on multiple online platforms, Deviki also pledged to donate some sale proceeds to a different charity each month to show my support for the amazing work they are doing to help others going through a difficult time.
