‘A Guide for Survivors’ is a free resource which answers questions and provides useful numbers, links and tips for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Clicking on the image or link below will open the guide, you can then save it to your device.

This guide has been created for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, offering clear information, gentle guidance, and practical support. Whether you’re just beginning to explore your experiences or looking for ways to cope and move forward, this resource is here for you.

There is no “right way” to feel after experiencing abuse. Everyone’s response is different and all of it is valid. This guide is designed to help you better understand your thoughts, feelings, and reactions, while offering practical strategies you can use in your own time.

You don’t have to read it all at once. You can pause, skip sections, and come back whenever feels right. You are in control of how you use this resource.

If reading this guide brings up difficult feelings, you’re not alone. Support is available if and when you feel ready. You can reach out to Quetzal for confidential support, or explore the additional resources included in the guide.

This guide is a starting point, not the whole journey. You deserve support, understanding, and space to heal at your own pace.

Taking care while reading

Some parts of this guide might feel hard to read. You might notice strong feelings come up. That’s okay.

Try to read it somewhere you feel comfortable. Take breaks when you need to. You don’t have to keep going if it feels too much.

You can stop at any time. You can come back later. Go at your own pace.

If it helps, have something nearby that makes you feel safe. That could be a person, a place, or even a small object.

You matter more than getting through the guide.

What you’ll find in this guide

This guide talks about things many survivors think and feel. It looks at trauma and how it can affect you. It shares ways to cope and feel more steady.

You’ll find ideas you can try in your own time. Some might help. Some might not. That’s okay.

You don’t need to read it in order. You can start anywhere. Just follow what feels right for you.

A gentle reminder

If things start to feel overwhelming, pause for a moment.

Look around you. Notice where you are. Try to focus on your breathing.

You could name five things you can see. Four things you can feel. Three things you can hear.

Give yourself a moment. There’s no rush.

There’s no rush

Healing takes time. It doesn’t follow a straight path.

You might have good days and harder days. Both are part of it.

Even small steps matter. Reading a page. Taking a pause. Noticing how you feel.

That is enough.
