Watch Footage of the Alive & Kicking Females In Coalville Event at the Century Theatre and learn more about what happened over the 5-day celebration event for International Women’s Day 2022.
Quetzal had the great opportunity to collaborate with Coalville C.A.N. to deliver for International Women’s Day 2022 – The Alive & Kicking Females in Coalville 5-day celebration event including a night at the Century Theatre and days at Coalville C.A.N. HQ exhibiting for the last time the Fantastic Fifty Females.
The night at the Century Theatre was magical with women from Coalville and wider Leicestershire sharing their talents including poetry, singing and movies.
Oluchi Anozie, Volunteer Community Connector at Quetzal, said: “I am so glad I came to the event. it was so inspiring to watch each performers sharing their talents, and it was exactly what I needed. It energized me to push me further”
For the second day of celebration, Coalville C.A.N. launched its Membership call inviting local residents to become members of the community benefit society and get the right to invest in the purchase of local community buildings. The launch was great opportunity to learn more about the aspiration and goals of Coalville C.A.N. Find out about becoming a member here
Then, we had the opening of the Fantastic Fifty Females at Coalville C.A.N. HQ with medallist and long-distance runner, Gemma Steel. The Fantastic Fifty Females were created by 50 individuals and organisations in Coalville. Fantastic Females were selected for a variety of reasons from the impact they had on their own community, to the difference they have made in the world or in a particular field. Using a life-size cut-out, each group created a piece of artwork which commemorates their chosen female. The project was delivered by Think FC
Quetzal is over so grateful for the opportunity to collaborate on such event with Coalville C.A.N. raising further awareness about its work in the region as well as understanding the aspirations of the local community.
