Eugenie Bitty showcases her artworks at the Quetzal Stories of Change Exhibition on Wednesday 9th February 2022 at the Quetzal building. Quetzal’s first exhibition features artists and organisations that explore the role of arts in supporting survivors of abuse.
About Eugénie Bitty
Ivoirian-Born Visual Artist and Poet
Eugenie Bitty’s work is first described by plastic artist Michel Braun as an apparition imbued with radicalism, poetry, and humor.
The artist shares her dreams through her painting: a new world, unusual and familiar, secular and sacred, where her African origin emerges. Humans and hu-paws (animals) or furies, original, surprising and generous, animate Eugénie Bitty’s story with great tenderness.
Her contribution to the Quetzal Stories of Change exhibition reflects upon her ancestral and cultural history where communities often marry young girls who are yet to have become women imbued with the power to create life and harmony.
