Art workshops with Libby and Maddie
Thursday 8 May, 6.30-8.30 pm
Create your own collage art! A hands-on opportunity to experiment with various collage techniques including cutting and hand tearing shapes and layering different materials. You will get to explore your own creativity and develop composition skills so that you come away with pieces of collage art completely unique to you!
You will be provided with everything you need for the workshop including background paper, small cut out shapes, magazine pages, interesting textures, papers and patterns. You are welcome to bring extra materials or photos if you wish to add a more personal touch.
No previous collage experience necessary, this is a relaxed and friendly workshop designed to be enjoyable for everyone. There will be example collages available around the room for inspiration.
Botanical mark-making
Thursday 14 August, 6.30-8.30 pm
Create your own abstract paintings inspired by flowers and plants!
Learn experimental and playful techniques where you will use objects rather than brushes to discover abstract mark-making, texture making and shapes.
You will be encouraged to layer marks one over the other and to let go of perfectionism! You will explore how to simplify the plants and flowers that you see in the room into abstract shapes and marks which effectively portray the subject.
No artistic experience necessary! This is a relaxed and friendly workshop designed to be enjoyable for everyone. There will be example paintings available around the room for inspiration.
This workshop will encourage fun and messiness so please make sure to wear old clothes or bring an apron! All materials will be provided.
Winter decorations
Thursday 13 November, 6.30-8.30 pm
Create colourful paper bird decorations! In this workshop, you will combine both collage and mark-making skills to make winter bird decorations complete with a hanging loop.
You will layer large sheets of paper with colour and texture and then cut around a provided template. Once the pieces have been assembled to create the bird you will then be able to cut further shapes to collage in layers on top. This means each bird created will be completely unique!
All materials will be provided including templates to take away so you can make as many more birds as you wish. Perfect for decorating your home or giving as gifts.
