International Women’s Day Fundraising Events

Save the date!

We’re so grateful to Girls Who Walk Leicester for partnering with us throughout March and choosing to fundraise for Quetzal through their events. Community moments like this remind us how powerful it is when people come together in solidarity, support, and friendship.

Join us in celebrating International Women’s Day throughout March by attending the incredible line up of events:

Fundraising Walk

First Up: Quetzal is proud to be teaming up with Girls Who Walk Leicester (@girlswhowalklc) for a special fundraising walk on International Women’s Day, Sunday 8th March.

Girls Who Walk Leicester is an inclusive, women-only (18+) community that creates a safe and welcoming space for women to walk, connect, and support one another. Whether you’re new to walking or love getting your steps in, everyone is welcome.

When: Sunday 8th March, 11:00am, 60–75 minutes
Location & meeting point: ORSO Leicester, 4 Market Place, Leicester, LE1 5GF (Leic City Centre)

The plan is to meet at 11:00am, grab a coffee to go, and then head off together.

Our route will take us down New Walk, around Victoria Park, and back into town – it should be a lovely, accessible route for everyone joining.

Open to all women – most people come solo, so don’t worry if you are too.

Just bring comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate layers, and water.

Come walk, connect, and support women together.

This walk will raise vital funds to support Quetzal’s life-changing work with women CSA survivors, while celebrating strength, solidarity, and women supporting women.

Join us in celebrating IWD by donating or sharing the event with your network!

Movie Night

Join Girls Who Walk Leicester this March for a cosy, women-only movie night in collaboration with Leicester Film Club at Bitsy’s Emporium of Awesome.

As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations throughout March, we’ll be screening Bend It Like Beckham, the iconic coming-of-age film directed by Gurinder Chadha. We’re spotlighting female-directed stories that centre ambition, identity, culture, and female friendship.

It’s a feel-good classic about backing yourself and going after what you want, even when expectations say otherwise.

When: Saturday, 14th March 2026, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM (arrive early to grab food and drinks; film starts at 7:00 PM sharp)
Where: Bitsy’s Emporium of Awesome, The Old Mill, 4 N Mills, Frog Island, Leicester LE3 5DL
How much: £5.99 – Tickets via CLIQ
