Comic Relief awards £50 000 continuation funding in support of Quetzal Breaking the Silence Initiative. The project, which was due to terminate in March 2022, will continue until December 2022, measuring the effectiveness of a community-based approach to raise awareness about the trauma of childhood sexual abuse and the value of counselling in South Asian communities in Leicester.
Quetzal announced the news for the funding extension when presenting its next steps as part of the latest online webinar launching the Breaking the Silence Initiative Evaluation report.
A special thank you to Rina Metha, Comic Relief portfolio manager for putting Quetzal forward as a project at Comic Relief to continue supporting this year.
With the funding, Quetzal will continue providing 16-week free counselling sessions to female survivors of childhood sexual abuse, translate its self-help guide, engage with communities, and more importantly plan further fundraising efforts to support its growth.
