Role Description
This role is responsible for supporting our digital communications, social media, website, newsletters and a small number of events to help raise awareness, engage our audiences and enhance our work supporting women survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
This is a part-time position for 15 hours per week. Hours of work are Monday 9-3pm, Tuesday 9-3pm to be worked in office (LE3 1HR) and 3 additional floating hours to be worked flexibly and remotely across the rest of the week to post social media content, send newsletters or attend community events.
Salary: Full-time equivalent salary of £25,508.70 PRO RATA (FTE 37.5 hours per week). This equates to £13.08 per hour.
Duties include
- Managing social media communications.
- Updating our website (WordPress)
- Creating newsletters for staff, volunteers and service users.
- Promotion of events and attending events when necessary.
- Other reasonable duties related to the role.
Previous experience working in a communications role is not essential. We are interested in your potential, enthusiasm and ability to learn.
You will ideally have:
- An interest in communications and a willingness to develop your skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately with different audiences.
- Good attention to detail.
- Basic digital skills and confidence learning new systems and platforms.
- The ability to organise your own work, manage deadlines and prioritise tasks.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the experiences and needs of women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse.
- A commitment to our values and to maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to work in person in the Braunstone office two days a week
Occupational Requirement
This post is open to women only. This is an occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
As a specialist charity providing support to women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse (CSA), the nature and context of this role require the postholder to be a woman. This requirement is considered a proportionate means of achieving the legitimate aim of providing a safe, appropriate and trauma-informed environment for the women who use our services.
All of our staff and volunteers are women, reflecting the specialist nature of our organisation and the needs and preferences of the women we support. Applications are therefore invited from women only.
