Reaching out to CSA LGBTQ+ survivors aims to measure the effectiveness of a community-based approach to raise awareness about the trauma of childhood sexual abuse and the value of counselling amongst LGBTQ+ survivors of childhood sexual abuse. It is also an opportunity to understand better the barriers to engage with our support and improve accessibility.

In 2020-2021,  22 survivors identifying themselves as LGBTQ+ out of 257 total referrals (8%) contacted our charity for support.

In 2021-2022, 56 (+60%) out of 448 total referrals (12%) contacted Quetzal.

Through the project, Quetzal plans to use their learning from other outreach programmes and apply them to create an impact, so that more survivors are aware of the support available to them.
