What we need from you in order to offer virtual sessions
Ensuring a secure environment is really important. You need to choose a private and quiet space for sessions. There should never be anyone in the room with you while you take part in virtual sessions, and you should do whatever you can to make sure you are not interrupted.
We need to know where you are at all times when you have phone or online sessions with us. You will be asked to provide emergency contact information before starting therapy and you should let your therapist know at the start of a session if you are not at your home address. Therapy can only be accessed from inside the UK due to restrictions on insurance, if you are traveling, we will need to reschedule your appointment.
Active participation is crucial for the success of virtual therapy. You must engage fully in sessions, minimising distractions, and maintaining focus on the therapeutic process. You should not be doing anything else while on a session and if you care for children, you will need to arrange alternative care for them during your appointment time. This includes driving, cleaning, eating etc. In order for the therapy to be effective when delivered online conditions should be as close to an in person session as possible, so you need to be able to give your full attention to the conversation, as you would if you were sat in a room with the counsellor.
Consistent attendance is essential for progress in virtual therapy. You are asked to commit to scheduled sessions and actively work towards your therapeutic goals, just as you would in traditional in-person therapy.
At Quetzal, we are dedicated to providing a secure and effective virtual therapeutic experience. By understanding and embracing these conditions and expectations, you can embark on a journey of recovery, all from the comfort of your chosen space. We look forward to supporting you on your path to healing and positive change.
If you feel in person therapy at the Quetzal dedicated space would be a better fit for you, but there is currently a barrier to you attending in person (such as travel cost or session time) please let us know as we can often work with you to find a solution.
