Starting counselling is  daunting.  You may find you feel anxious about coming, that is perfectly normal. This page aims to give you as much information as possible to help you feel at ease.

We are happy to make any reasonable adjustments to help you engage with your counselling so if you are struggling to attend your sessions please do let us know. If you have any concerns or questions please call us on 0333 101 4280 and we can talk through them with you.

Missed sessions have a negative impact on your recovery journey, the volunteer counsellors and the capacity of the organisation to continue to deliver free sessions, so please do let us know if you are struggling to attend for whatever reason.

How to find us?

Our address is 14-16 Talbot Lane, Leicester LE1 4LR. We are next to the Jury Wall museum near the Holiday Inn. Talbot Lane is a narrow cobbled street away from the main road. We do not have parking on site but there are lots of nearby public parking options. There is pay and display parking in front of the building however there are only a few spaces. The machine only accepts cash.

Please note the building is only accessible by two small steps. If  you have any access requirements please let us know before your first visit so we can make suitable adjustments.

What happens when you arrive?

We have an intercom so when you arrive you will press the button and our receptionist will say hello. You can either say your name or simply say you are here for a session and you will be buzzed into the building.

You will be asked to sign in and then take a seat in our waiting area until your counsellor is ready for you.

When she is ready your counsellor will come and get you from the waiting area and take you into the private counselling room.

What will you talk about with your counsellor?

Your counsellor will never push you to talk about anything you don’t want to and the sessions will be led by you. Your counsellor will help you to process and work through your thoughts and feelings but won’t ask you to share anything you are not comfortable with.

What do you need to know before accessing your counselling sessions online/via telephone?

We offer access to online and telephonic therapy to those who are unable to attend their sessions in-person. However, there are certain requirements that must be met to ensure the effectiveness of the sessions. Learn more about it on our About Online and Telephonic sessions information page.

Other general information.

We will ask you to fill in some forms and sign an agreement at your first session. Your counsellor will guide you through the forms and give you any help you need.
