Project Healing Words: Empowering Survivors through Storytelling

January 2024 onwards

Based on previous engagement, survey findings, and focus group discussions, we’ve identified the need to develop workshops designed to meet the specific needs of the service beneficiaries. Keeping that in mind, we are happy to announce that we have secured £8819 in funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for our project Healing Words: Empowering Survivors through Storytelling.

The project aims to facilitate healing and empowerment for female survivors of CSA through creative writing. It will provide workshops, individual support, and platforms for survivors to share their stories and experiences.

Who will benefit from this project?

Women who are survivors of CSA will be the primary beneficiaries, including local communities who will also benefit from increased awareness and understanding of a survivor’s experiences. This will help reduce prejudices and misconceptions surrounding the issue, giving us an opportunity to initiate meaningful dialogue.

The project is set to empower survivors by offering a creative outlet, promoting resilience, fostering community support, and reducing the stigma associated with discussing such traumatic experiences. Through storytelling, survivors can find strength, healing, and a renewed sense of self.

How does it work?

The participants of Project Healing Words will be recruited based on assessment of suitability and safety.

6 half day workshops will be conducted, utilising a tailored approach to address the specific needs of female survivors of CSA, incorporating a holistic healing approach. The workshops will provide a safe platform for survivors to share their stories and experiences, helping them reach their potential in emotional healing, self-expression, and personal growth.
